Conspiracy Of Silence
Conspiracy of Silence.
The government never gets
to have a critical look at anything that’s not working. As a result, any time a
disaster waiting to happen rears its ugly head, they quickly set up a time and
money consuming committee to bury it and divert attention. As for us, we are
expected to just grin and bear it and wait for the next disaster!

Things Have Come Full Circle...
Things Have Come
Full Circle
The government of
the day and its functionaries have always behaved as if they’re doing us a
favour, even when it becomes very glaring they are oppressing us. At our most vulnerable moment, they are making
us to tighten our belts while they are helping themselves to the difference.
The inset in this
cartoon, titled the Peacemaker, was one of the Guardian cartoons portraying men
in uniform behaving badly – helping themselves to the difference - that
infuriated the military to the tipping point that they had to warn the Guardian
of the consequences of publishing uncomplimentary cartoons of men in uniform.

The Rituals
The expression “hit the
ground running” has long ceased to exist in our lexicon. It was replaced with
“hit the ground crawling”. This emboldens newly sworn in administrations and
the agencies and committees they set up to always insist on their primordial
entitlement of crawling before walking and running. But the tragedy is they
always remain on the crawling mode for a very long time such that their attempts
to take the first steps always result in falling back to crawling again. This
is where they always remain until they eventually crawl out of office!

Obasanjo Greets Babangida At 75
You
should never take sides when two politicians fight, because you’ll find
yourself in a very awkward situation when they kiss and make up!

Encouraging Impunity
It is irritating when a
rogue public officer caught with his hand in the till tries to play the victim
card to elicit public sympathy.
It is more irritating when he shamelessly accuses
the government of using its might to “freeze MY account” and “confiscate MY
property”; the account he lodged money he stole from government and the
property he acquired with money he stole from government. Country don spoil!
